Ernie Els won the HSBC World Match Play Championship for a record seventh time, beating Argentina 's Angel Cabrera 6 and 4 in the final at Wentworth. Els took the initiative of the 36-hole final after Cabrera bogeyed the first to go one down and the South African never lost the lead after that. Els closed out victory with his 13th birdie of the day.
