Top seed Nikolay Davydenko crashed out of the St. Petersburg Open in Russia losing to Croatioan qualifier Marin Cilic in three sets 6-1, 5-7, 1-6. Davydenko’s game fell apart in the decider prompting the umpire to issue a warning to the Russian for not trying hard enough. There were no problems for the other seeds. Second seed Andy Murray beat Lukas Dlouhy 6-2, 6-4, while third seed Mikhail Youzhny dismissed reigning champion Mario Ancic 6-4, 6-2
